Speed bag workout for beginners

RDX Sports nurtures the fighting spirit. We like to think that age, gender, and size is irrelevant when it comes to bringing out your inner Champ. Our wish is to transform the world of Martial Arts and Contact Sports by spreading our philosophy of ‘Advanced Tech’ far and wide with our technologically superior products, designed to awaken the ‘Giant Inside’.
Beginner or Pro; It doesn’t really matter.

Our training gear makes the difference between the novice and pro – it’s that simple. When you’re wearing a brand whose equipment is ‘fighter centric’ , you just can’t go wrong.
Thin gloves or a pair of hand-wraps are all you need to up your speeds with our hi-tech hand-stitched speed ball bag. It’s all about rhythm and repetition. 3 – 5 minutes every day is more than enough to get your groove in place, this develops good speed, precision and reaction time in regards to a target. It requires focus, coordination and this ultimately builds speed and coordination.

The greatest aspect of speed-bag training is ‘hand-to-eye’ coordination. Another factor when it comes to novices or amateurs, is the natural affinity to ‘blink’ when ‘something’ is inches away from their faces; namely a high-speed punch. The speed-bag trains your eye not to flinch or blink, reducing ‘fear’ induced reactions and instead making you move or block instead of freeze. This means the fighter who sees a punch coming is most likely to move away from it. Training for speed enables you to assess rhythm and patterns. This means a fighter is aware of movement and distance between him/her and his/her opponent.

It is a staple when it comes to boxing. Pads and heavy bags can only do so much for your technique. Speed-bags maintain your hand position and boxing posture. When it comes to physicality it helps build the ‘twitch muscles’ in the triceps, shoulders and allows them to be reflexive at will. This all adds to explosiveness, power and short reaction time.

A boxing gym routine is incomplete without a few rounds of speed-ball training in your training regimen – so get your gloves, face the speed-ball, and get your rhythm going. Just check out this little one trying to get hers’ going.
